The Future

Today I must talk about my children. For you all that don’t know, I am a single mom of two teenage daughters. My oldest is seventeen and my youngest is thirteen. Of course, I did not set out to be a single mom but I’m doing the best I can. I try hard for them not to see me struggle. It can be really hard to hold it together when you do it alone. But I told myself long ago that even if it’s my last, my children will have everything they need and some of what they want. That alone has been a struggle but I refuse to make my kids suffer for mistakes. I also instill in them that they can do better than I have. Furthermore, I let them know that there is no limit to what they can accomplish. I must let them know how great they are and how great they can be. No matter what though I let them know I will always have their back.
Saying this makes me think of all the parents that aren’t there for their children. Some have no choice depending on the circumstances but It baffles me that some people choose not to be in their children’s lives. When I look at my babies every day I can not imagine never seeing them. Not talking to them.
Another thing that hits me is me not setting a good example for them. I would be heartbroken if one of them told me one day that something I did hurt them. My main duties as their mother is to provide for them and to guide them in the right direction. As a parent, you have to be the best you so you can show your children the right examples. That way you will know that you’ve done your best for them. By doing this you will more than likely raise some awesome kids that will turn into awesome grown-ups.
I hope everyone with children will think this way because as we know the children are the future leaders and upstanding citizens that will determine how this world will end up. So do your best to raise an awesome child. I know I will.
